KILLS ANIMALS not fleas i purchased this product last year 3 days later 2 of my dogs were almost dead. i took them to the vet he said that month he had a rush on people bringing in sick animals from this product. It was new to us around here in stores. and he also stated not all owners were as lucky as i was.
Flea control This is a good dog shampoo that works well killing the fleas. It smells good.
Quick but not long lasting. I have used this product a few times now on my two dogs.The nice thing is it kills flea right then and therethey are gone.The bad thing is the fleas will be back within 24 hours or less.So as nice as it is to be rid of the fleas it doesn't keep them off the animal for any good deal of time.I will finish off the bottle over time I am sure but once its gone I will not be purchasing it again.
THIS STUFF MADE MY DOG SICK !!!!! It killed the fleas sure and made her sick within a few hours !! DO NOT BUY THIS. I have a 53 pound english Bulldog. I bathed her with this product that I thought was safe because of the name brand. HA what a lie. I am telling everyone and posting this on youtube as I have it on video. [] because they seem to have alot of bad products out there. I had no idea !!!! HARTZ is awful. This company has an incredible number of animal injuries and deaths.don't believe me? start doing a search on it.
Great scent Hartz almost always produces great products for my pets. This shampoo has a great scent that lasts.
Be VERY careful with Hartz products Hartz products have been known to cause severe illness and even death in younger animals. I've been a veterinary technican for 16 years and have seen their products do some terrible things. If you can avoid using them do so.
Great value works well smells good This flea shampoo works pretty well in my opinion. It kills the fleas right away and it smells good. It may take a couple baths to kill every single flea because they often hide when you start bathing your dog. I would suggest washing around your dogs ears first because they like to hide there.
WARNING!!! I would not use this shampoo if i was you. My dog had fleas so i picked up this shampoo for my dog at Petland and the next day my dog had uncontrollable shaking. I had to bring him to the vet and the vet said it was the shampoo that the Hartz Flea shampoo has done this to many dogs. Stay far away from this shampoo if i was you.
Warning! I have used this product on a regular basis on several different dogs over the past 20 years or so because it does seem to work well at keeping fleas under control. HOWEVER.Our newest dog a Chihuahua named Foxy has shown me that this product can cause major seizures in dogs. Within 2 hours of bathing her she had a terrible seizure then a few weeks later the same thing happened. She has only had 1 other since I stopped using this product a week later. So far she seems ok a month later. But after doing some research I have discovered that we were far from alone. How this product is still on the shelves is beyond me! [] is 1 of many sites with much information on how dangerous and deadly this shampoo and the Hartz drops can be.

Product still has not arrived so I cannot rate it. The company sent a package in about a week however it wasn't what I had ordered. They were nice about it and mailed me a call tag so I could return the wrong product. I did so but have not received the correct item yet.
Advantage for large cats & Amazon online go together We have a 19 pound Maine Coon male cat. Maine Coons' have many layers of fur and all different lengths. The under pelt is so thick you can't part it enough to see the skin. He is an inside cat but still gets his Advantage Purple once a month for prevention. There are many dogs in the area that roam loose so fleas can come in from the dog activity outside. I like the ability to apply Advantage topically and Oscar tolerates it very well. I have read reviews where professional animal care providers say that Advantage is the best topical flea medication available. We get it through Amazon for far less than what the vet charges plus it's delivered right to our door. No more out of my way trips to the vet!and complete flea control.
Kills the fleas. Killed off the fleas but it makes my adult cat sick for several hours. She can't stand to be touched pants excessively and drools a bit.One month later after application there are new fleas in my home. This may be a transference from me going outside or from her. I can't really tell.The product does kill and keep the fleas off my adult cat age 5. I hear that side effects are normal with chemicals. I wish there was a way to not introduce chemicals into her systems and keep the fleas off her and out of the home.

The product did not work on my dog I was hoping her fleas went away after a few days but they didn't. We used a house spray at the same time and we didn't see much for results until we took fe dog to the bet.
Capsules versus Capstar tablets. Quick deliverybut after reading the info packed with the product about the packaging to keep the cost down etc I also noticed that the pills were capsules not tablets like Capstar and got very skeptical about using them. I thought they would be Capstar tablets bought in bulk and just repackaged. I still havent used the capsules and ultimately bought Capstar.. Seller was reliable and delivery was prompt.
Excellent Product I prefered the capsules to that of Capstar tablets because they were easily opened & mixed into food. Worked just as direct my pet was visibly flea free within 2hrs after dosing.ONLY KILLS ADULT FLEAS DOES NOT STOP INFESTATIONS ON ITS OWN!People need to understand that fleas survive on a 3 week cyle 1 adult flea lays thousands of eggs in its lifetime that take weeks to gestate & hatch thusly reinfecting what you believed to be a flea free home after ridding yourself of all the pesky parents.It takes a proper regimen of cleanliness & treatments [for both adult adolecent & flea eggs] to truely rid your home & animals of fleas.

Smells like a baked ham but works great I started using Natural Defense Flea Shampoo on my 12 yr. old dachshund. He has fatty tumors growths on various parts of his body so I don't use toxic chemicals on him. This shampoo makes his coat shine without drying out his skin. The cloves make him smell like a baked ham but if that keeps the fleas and mosquitoes off of him that's fine with me. Pet Smart always seems to be sold out of this product so I'm ordering from Amazon.
Very happy with this product. We got our first family pet last summer and all was going along well until one day I was brushing him and realized that he had managed to get fleas. YIKES! I was not a happy mama. Immediately we went to the store and bought this product after lots of comparing. We followed the directions and after lathering our dog up well we let the shampoo sit for 5 minutes and then rinsed well. We brushed him before washing and then again before rinsing shedding is also a problem for him. It worked well at killing the fleas last fall and thus far has kept them away this summer. We spend a lot of time outdoors and I am pleased that this shampoo has helped keep harmful chemicals off of our dog out of our home and away from our children.The only thing I can think of that could be considered a downside is the scent. It does not bother us but it is a bit of a strong obviously plant based smell. I think it's the cloves that stand out strongly but the smell fades in a day or so and it really isn't an issue for us. I much prefer it to chemical smells and I think that using a natural product is well worth this minimal trade off.
Natural Defense pet shampoo Ive been using this on my dog for nearly 2 years now. I was originally interested in it because like other reviewers Im not comfortable using endless amounts of chemicals on my pet frontline and heartguard once a month is plenty!. While I dont use it as a flea defence for the dog I have used is to rid my indoor cat of fleas hopefully the first and last time i ever have to bathe a cat! and it seemed to be effective.My dog's fur as well as her skin is so soft shiny and generally healthy that people often comment on it and ask what I use. As for the smell While i dont think ill by myself perfume with the same sent I actually think cedar and cloves are an appropriate smell for a dog. Dogs arn't meant to smell like strawberries and bubblegum. The essential oils seem to keep that 'dog smell' away and her skin and coat fresh for the full 2 weeks between baths.
Does not work! I used this on my dog today as directed because I've been seeing fleas on him lately even though he is on Frontline which is another bad review I'll have to write later. Anyway I didn't want to use more chemicals on him so I thought I'd try a more natural product.Checked him out tonight and so far I've seen 3 fleas on him just jumping around acting perfectly normal. They didn't seem to be affected by the shampoo at all.The only redeeming quality about this product is it makes your dog smell really nice.

Do not buy Sentry/Sergeant's flea/tick products!!! DANGER I purchased this because like most people I was trying to save money. I didn't want to pay for front line from the vet because it is typically more expensive. However I wish I would have! I used this product on our 22lb pug and it agitated her soooo badly. The poor girl was panting and running around trying to find relief from the itch on her back. Her ears were hot and she did not sleep for two nights. She was not herself at all. Last night at 2am she was breathing so hard I decided enough was enough. I researched the product online and saw similar reviews to my own on other sites and some that reported this product actually killing their pet. I called the animal hospital and they said to bathe her in dish soap at least twice and to give her benadryl. After all of that she didn't fall asleep until 430am.
