  • HORRIFIC experience! PLEASE DO NOT USE! I have a small cat and so I bought the Sergeant's Gold flea medication for cats 5 lbs and under and applied it on Friday thinking it would be good since it was formulated for kitties her size. If only I could attach a photo to show the TERRIBLE REACTION it caused.By the time I got back from dinner yesterday a quarter sized hot spot had appeared where the medication had been administered behind my poor kitty's head. She was frantically scratching it and crying in pain. The area was raw and bleeding and I had to take her to the emergency vet that night. The vet took one look at the wound and asked if I had used Sergeant's brand specifically. After a $240 appointment my vet told me this was NOT UNCOMMON and that they had seen COUNTLESS reactions like this with Sergeant's. It absolutely kills me that I didn't know how caustic this product was! Now she's cleaned up has a 2 square section on the back of her neck shaved a topical medicine an antibioltic injection and a kitty sweater to stop her from scratching the painful hot spot.Stay as far away from this as you can spend an extra $10 on something that won't harm your pet! If I could give this 0 stars I would. We will never use this product again and hope to see it swiftly removed from the shelves of all retailers who are mislead enough to stand behind the brand.
BAD for cats!!! I had bought this and applied it on my cat from my local grocery store before reading all the reviews here. I flipped and gave my cat a bath with Dawn and water and he's fine. At the Vet today to treat the fleas I asked him about this product and he confirmed that it really DOES work as a neurotoxin on many but not all cats. I would *NOT* risk treating your animals with this product. Just spoke to my grocer and they're going to look into pulling this product from their shelves.
Scary Horrible Experience My sister applied this product to our cat in between his shoulder blades and also put a cone on him for about two hours because he tends to lick himself a lot. Within 10 to 15 minutes after taking the cone off he came downstairs and started running everywhere..we immediately went to go see what was wrong and we became very scared!! He was having a seizure!!! He released his bowels was running into walls and was extremely hard to control. We put him in the bath tub to wash off this horrible poison and it was not helping he was still extremely erratic and he began biting himself very hard. We quickly put the cone back on so he would stop biting himself grabbed towels and his pet carrier and rushed him to an emergency vet facility. Luckily we got him in on time he is doing much better now but is still in a delicate state. We have learned that pets react differently to these products but why take a chance? I did more research and these type of flea control products carry the same toxins that products such as raid have.
this customer not happy This customer was not happy due to products arriving with bright yellow and orange stickers on them that said $1 and Last chance on the products as if the flea products had been bought at a swop meet or flea market. I let the vendor know about this and then did NOT use the products/could not trust they would do what I bought them to do/ or would be safe on our cats.
DANGEROUS! DO NOT BUY This product is dangerous for your cat. DO NOT purchase this item. Our cat had an allergic reaction and we had to rush to the vet for treatment. Common symptoms for poisoning from this product are tremors seizures and death. Other unwanted side effects are irritated skin at application site and loss of hair at application site. Avoid the product and at the very least you will avoid the vet bills from an allergic reaction.
Terrible Product! I would give this product zero stars or negative stars if I could. This product is awful! I had been using Revolution and though it worked really well I realized I was out and overdue to treat my cat. I was in the grocery store and I happened to see Sergeant's in the pet isle so I decided to try it. I figured that this product has been around since I was a little kid so it must still exist after all these years for a reason. So I used Sergeant's Gold on my cat and he put up an enormous fight which is unusual for him. He fought off my husband and me as if we were trying to kill him.
WARNING URGENT THIS IS POISON DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Put this product on my cat as directed. She seemed confused didn't play as usual or eat or take her usual nap. Just happened to check side effects of this product and found an incredible number of people who lost their pets to this POISON. Luckily I had enough sense to wash it off with a mild soap and she seems to be getting back to her normal self but I won't be satisfied until I'm certain she's out of the woods.
Not the Best but not bad. I own three cats and have dealt with fleas for a while when I first got them. I tried Frontline and Advantage from the vet's office. They didn't work all that well honestly. I felt bad that my mother was buying the flea medicine and it wasn't working all that well. I'm disabled and at the time hadn't been getting my disability check to cover costs yet. So I gave in and bought this product from Walmart to give it a try. I used it two months in a row and it worked better than all the other stuff my mom purchased for my cats. The fleas were gone. It did leave an oily spot on their heads. I don't place it on the back of the neck because one of my cats is really flexible and can lick there. We learned that when using Frontline for the first time which caused her to foam at the mouth. So even the name brand vet medicines will cause a cat to foam at the mouth or become a little sick if ingested it has nothing to do with it being cheap. However none of my cats have ever become sick from using this product. Therefore I'm still using it. I just used it again today even though I don't see any signs of fleas since I babysat a friend's cat for a week.
This is a dangerous product! My parents used this product on their cat and she got sick and died shortly afterward. The cat stopped eating and became lethargic right after receiving the medication and rapidly deteriorated. The vet couldn't tell what was wrong with her but assumed it was old age since she was 16 years old. However the timing of her sudden illness right after being treated with this medication seems very consistent with the negative experiences being reported by other reviewers here.
Unsure of the truth here Why do I get this strange strange feeling that some here are embellishing the truth?? I am getting this real feeling that there are some here that are flat out lying about the effecacy of this medicinepossibly due to them working for Frontline or Advantagewhich are trying desperately to keep their profits. I see some of the same ingredients in these 'HORRIBLETERRIBLE' meds that are cheaper in the Advantage/Frontline meds! It works in the 'high priced' meds but is DANGEROUS in the cheaper ones? Where's the truth herereally? I am totally skeptical.

Hartz UltraGuard Flea Shampoo Oatmeal Smells good and works well

Hartz UltraGuard Rid Flea & Tick Shampoo for Dogs with Oatmeal 18oz Read more...

  • Dog Shampoo with Oatmeal is a cleansing shampoo treatment with Pyrethrins that kills fleas and ticks which can carry numerous diseases
  • This unique oatmeal enhanced shampoo helps provide soothing relief from bug bites which can cause itchy or irritated skin
  • This product is best used on dogs of 6 months of age or older

  • Spiffy Kills fleas ticks and makes my dog smell good!!!That said it's not a hundred percent effective and I have to practically douse my German Shepperd in it but it does the job just fine just be sure to let it soak in for a bit to kill those extra healthy bugs.Keep in mind that you'll also have to wash all your pets bedding and toys if you want the bugs to stay away for any length of time.
Stinks but I guess it works This shampoo smell is not that pleasant. But it seems to keep my dogs coat shiny and moisturized. I have not had a problem with flees ever so I am not sure if the flea protection is really there but it's good if it is.
WORKS greatly I bought this for my self i had a lot of problems with lice and ticks I used to get ticks on my private parts i dont know how i sometimes had lice in that area too! but now with this shampoo its almost all gone. The only bad thing is that the shampoo is turning my skin bright red but its worth it.
Smells good and works well I don't typically have to buy flea things but recently I've moved to SoCal and there are SO many fleas down here! This shampoo not only smells good but I could see the fleas falling off of my pug in the bath. It's a little soupy but works well and smells great. It's not a really strong smell but rather a faint smell. Honestly I much prefer this smell to that of a wet dog. Also my pugs lady parts were raw and red after washing it with this since it has oatmeal I assume it's all cleared up and there's no itching. I'd buy this again in the future for the smell and quality alone. On a side note you can't beat the price. It's way more expensive in store.
Woof Woof I have a 95 pound yellow lab and a 75 pound bullmation hybrid bulldog/dalmation and they both love a bath with this shampoo. The oatmeal is soothing to their skin and they smell delicious when they are done with their bath. It helps control fleas as well.
Flea & Tick Shampoo My local WalMart stopped carrying this shampoo.I like using it on my pups to help protect them in the summer time from pest like fleas and ticks.
Great product works well! I've been having ongoing Tick issues with 2 small dogs. I've tried the flea and tick drops on the skin yet to little success.I used this product and you can see the ticks fall off thereafter!Ensure you read the instructions keep out of your pet's eyes and leave on for 5 minutes.I plan on repeat in a few days.
fleas still there I read reviews before I purchased this product and was hoping it would get rid of fleas from my dog. But after I shampooed her with this product over a month or so she still scratching. I think fleas still there. I gave two stars because in the beginning of using this product the scratching was reduced but after awhile she still itched.
Used on flea ridden abandoned puppies Four puppies found their way under my fence and into my backyard. They were covered in fleas. I filled a bucket with water lathered each up and sprayed the soap with fleas off. Then I let them soak in another lather of shampoo waited a couple of minutes then immersed each in a bucket of waternot head. Most fleas took off for their head but I was able to wipe them into the water. I kept the puppies a couple of days before finding a nokill rescue group for them. I didn't see anymore fleas on them and the foster mom took them to the vet and didn't see any as well. I would recommend the Hartz shampoo.
Shampoo with Oatmeal This past year our dog had a lot of issues with fleas. We bought the best flea medication had flea traps set up and gave him baths regularly. They still would not leave. He itches a lot even when he doesn't have fleas so his skin was pretty irritated. This stuff always seems to make him chew and scratch less and just in general make him more comfortable. We got it for double the price the first time from a pet store so we were very happy to find it here and stock up.

  • Kills fleas, ticks and lice.
  • For Dogs up to 45-88 lbs.
  • Lasts up to 3 months.
  • 3 Dose Box.
  • Fast, long lasting & waterproof.

  • Waste of money and time This product is such an absolute waste of money. It does NOTHING for the fleas my dog had NONE before we started using it and after 2 months was infested. I called the company and they just gave a total runaround. Also for the first 48 hours after you applied it to her she was lethargic and had a dry nose. Dumping this junk out and never buying again.
This stuff works great I have two very big dogs and this stuff works great haven't had any problems I was a former frontline + user but it got very expensive having to use a total of 3 tubes a month since this product it cut my cost in half.
Made my dog sick! I purchased this product at Walmartdue to the lower price. You get what you pay for. I previously bought Frontline plus for my dog and it worked greatbut due to budget restrictionsI decided to be a cheapo and get this. Well not only did it NOT work on my doggolden lab2255 lbsit made his sickand feverish. So the poor little guy had fleas biting himAND some kind of reaction to this. I did NOT have this problem with Frontline plusand it was very affective.A friend of mine had a smaller lap dogand I guess it worked well for herbut with the bigger ones it seemed to not work well at all. YES the active ingredient is the same as FrontlineBUT it's the not listedfillers that are making these pets sickand some are even dying. I have switched to Advantage 11as I was told the fleas have built up a tolerance to Frontline as well.If you do buy this productI do not recommendPLEASE watch your pet CAREFULLY to make sure there are no adverse reactions to the meds. My heart goes out to those who have lost pets due to this product.
For shame Amazon I guess the days are gone when I could presume that Amazon's prices were competitive with the best. Amazon wants over $25 for this whereas Sam's Club has it for $12.91.
Frontline Plus clone so for better or worse it will work precisely the same We're conscientious pet owners who drive 50 miles each way to take our 6 fur kids 2 dogs/4 cats currentlyto the best vet practice in our area although plenty of other vets are much closerand MUCH cheaper.Until I came across this exact chemical clone of Frontline Plus last year we'd BEEN using Frontline Plus for all of our dogs for years based on the highest recommendation of our muultivet practice in a nearby upscale town to us. It wasn't until the FRONTLINE regular and Plus versions patent ran out that a generic or other clone was available in this countrylegally anyway. They COULD have recommended any similar product and do also sell several competing products for fleas and ticks but they don't insist that we purchase ANY topical med from them although they do record what we use in the pets medical files so they have no financial incentive to push one over the others. In our area E. Tenn/Western N.C. all year long flea and tick protection is MANDATORY for dogs and flea protection for outside catsunless you absolutely don't care about pets getting infested with fleas and/or ticks. To give you a better understanding of how well known the problem is in this area in the closest town to us they have cheap and welladvertised flea dip/bath days for pets several times a year. We rely on Frontline Plus or on this clone insteadas a flea dip is only a very temporary short term solution to a long term problem.
Didn't work for me I tried Petarmor plus for cats and dogs but it didn't work at all. A lady I work with likes it for her dogs she said it works but it didn't work for me. The only thing I can get to work is Advantage II. Great stuff! You can try Petarmor to see if it works for you but I wouldn't reccommend it. Buy Capstar for heavy infestationskills fleas fast works great. Then apply Advantage II monthly to keep from getting fleas again it works.
Switched from Frontline with great results. We made the switch after several years of Frontline. Frontline was great and this does the same great job for less money.
Pet Armor Plus I will never purchase this product again. It caused my dog a lot of pain. He can barely get up from laying down and cries constantly from the pain. His whole body is trembling. This stuff is poison! I DO NOT recommend it.I've never had a problem with Frontline Plus and will be going back to that.

  • Contains aloe vera extract and lanolin
  • For dogs and cats
  • Kills and repels fleas ticks lice gnats mosquitoes and flies

  • Works GREAT!!! I have been using this Bio Spot Pyrethrin Flea & Tick Dip now for about 3months. I have 2 long hairsone being a himalayan with very thick fur! and I have had no problems with fleas any longer! I was having quite the battle and after finally winning the war and spending a fortune bombing the house etcI have finally found the perfect solution for the furry critters! This works soooo well! The cost is minimal especially since you only need about 15cc of the dip mixed with a gallon of warm water the bottle lasts awhile. I dip both cats with the same solution and I usually dip the cats every 3 weeks. This leaves their fur really soft and with a nice clean scentnot a heavy medicinal pesticide smelleeewww! I also usein conjuction with the Dip the Flea capsule from Little City Dogs with the Nitenpyram the same as the Capstarbut for much less cost. I have my Himalayan groomed all the time and have not had any comments of fleas being on him.
Pyrethrin is NOT main ingredient I'm sure the product does it's job and for that I gave it two stars but I was looking for pyrethrin alone without all the added other pesticides and this product only has 0.97% pyrethrin in it. Less than a single percentage. Very disappointed that fact wasn't made clear as the name of it implies that it's the main ingredient and you can't read it from the picture.
